Greetings from Camp Quality Heartland – the world’s greatest summer camp!

It was a busy year and we have so much appreciation to share! We were blessed to host 64 children for five days of summer camp and we are proud to say it was completely free to everyone. Your support allowed each family to focus on other, more important needs. Camp Quality Heartland is unbelievably lucky to be a part of the Omaha community – one filled with truly special people!

We have so many positive stories from this year. Camp grew in 2015, reaching 10 new families and expanding summer camp enrollment for the second year in a row. Camp was fortunate to welcome new survivors, including 17 first-time campers. A big part of this growth is because of the dedicated teams at Childrens Hospital, the Nebraska Medical Center, and many other community partners. They helped us reach new families in 2015.

Do you know a family who Camp could support? Help us connect with them!

This summer we were proud to see children graduating from summer camp. Our brief time together reminds us of the real reasons we do this work. We’re allowed a very small window to see the kids grow, conquer their challenges, and mature into the most exceptional young adults.  We love our jobs! One of most inspiring things we heard this summer...

“I want to come back as a volunteer next year!” –graduating campers

The world’s greatest summer camp could not exist without the world’s greatest volunteers! All backgrounds, ages, and abilities are welcome with our organization. This year’s supporters included an inspiring team of high school DECA leaders, a caring group of motorcyclists, and an army of college students. We couldn’t be more grateful for their work in 2015. Everyone did an outstanding job and we loved watching new leaders emerge!

Camp Quality Heartland needs your help. We dream for all Omaha-area families affected by a diagnosis of childhood cancer to attend summer camp without the additional financial burden of expensive camp fees. With the help of caring and generous people like you, we can continue to offer our life changing services completely free to local families. Camp Quality Heartland is a 501(c)3 nonprofit with zero paid staff, devoting all of our resources to make an impact in the lives of our campers.  All contributions are tax deductible.

Please donate through or via mail.

Most importantly, we have exciting news! Camp will be at the College World Series in 2016!! We will be making our 22nd year incredibly special by planning a summer camp wrap up at the Omaha Baseball Village on opening night of the College World Series! This is going to be the biggest Camp ever! It’s going to be a game-changer. Look for future updates in your mailbox, our website, social media pages, and your email inboxes.

Wishing you and your families a grand slam in 2016!

Welcome to Camp Quality

I was eleven when I was diagnosed with leukemia. The doctors gave me chemotherapy and radiation to help, but they made me sick and made my hair fall out. When I went back to school, I remember wishing that I was normal like all the other kids. I realize now that I was . . . Being with the other kids who were in the same boat as me gave me faith and hope that we were all normal. We were kids after all . . . Camp Quality is a course of hope for all our campers. Here they can be themselves, normal kids with extraordinary lives.

With a Dose of Smile Therapy. . .

Camp Quality is a summer camping experience and year-round support program for children with cancer. Many difficult physical and emotional challenges face a child, and his or her family, when battling cancer. At our summer camps we have developed an important type of “therapy” . . . we like to call it Smile Therapy! With a laugh in their hearts and smiles on their faces, Camp Q. Kids find themselves capable of more than they may have dreamed possible.

We Laugh, Love, Lift-up . . .

Camp Quality has built its reputation on personalized care. Every camper is paired with a companion who is dedicated completely to his or her care. Companions are the life-blood of Camp Q; they are fun to be with, adventuresome, great listeners and are always sharing their love for life. Their primary responsibility is to make sure their camper has the most enjoyable, safe, relaxing and restoring experience possible. This relationship creates a beautiful bond that continues long after camp is over, and oftentimes for years to come.

Normal Kids with Extraordinary Lives . . .

Surrounded by new friends that can relate, loving volunteers who care, and loads of fun experiences, Camp Quality campers find joy, new courage and renewed hope for the future. They are free to be themselves . . . free to be kids again.
