Camp 2011

Sunday: July 9th

Sunday morning started early with a yummy breakfast followed by cabin and campground decorating, fun games and finishing touches were added to each companions cardboard and Duct-Tape boats. Soon after lunch excitement started to rise as the camper arrival time inched nearer. Finally, after much impatient waiting, the party bus arrived in the misted of loud cheers. As each campers name was called, and they came down the bus stairs, they were greeted by their companion. It was such of a hot day that as soon all of the campers were paired with their companions we retreated into the nice air-conditioning where we dressed up for funny pictures, play the Wii and cool off with snow cones and cold drinks. After a snack of nachos and cotton candy we had a great time wit some wonderful (and silly!) clowns who made us awesome balloon creations! It wasn't long and it was time for the annual boat races! Each companion constructs a boat out of three sheets of cardboard and one roll of Duct-Tape and rather they float or sink they are lots of fun! After a nice swim, to cool off, we had a great BBQ dinner which was provided by the Augusta Optimist club. I don't think anyone will have any trouble falling asleep tonight!

Monday: July 10th

After a great breakfast it was off to morning activities which consisted of the flower shop (where you can send camp friends flowers), the beauty shop (where campers/companions can get their hair and nails done and get some cool tattoos), the bounce house inflatables, and crafts. After a super yummy lunch it is time for feets up which allows everyone to rest and catch up on some ZZZZZZZs. Once everyone was rested up it was off to the acrobat show by Elsenpeter Productions and what a great show it was! It was amazing to watch the acrobats juggle fire, to tricks in a huge gerbil ball, and do some amazing suspended dancing tricks; everyone left truly impressed!  It was such of a hot day that the kickball game was canceled and replaced with a nice, cool, and refreshing swim! After a quick shower it was off to dinner (pizza hut!) and then to the dance where everyone enjoyed the great music and had a great time busting a move with friends.

Tuesday: July 12th

After breakfast everyone had a great time with morning activities with the beauty shop being exceptionally busy as everyone came to get crazy hair-dos and it can be agreed that its starting to look like a circus around here! After a great lunch and feets-up it was time to head off to Elsenpeter Production magic show which also included live violin music. After the show it was time to cool off with a nice afternoon swim followed by a dance and karaoke. Due to summer storms the smore cookout was canceled but we had a good time watching a movie on the big projector. WOW can you believe tomorrow the week will be half over?!

Wednesday: July 13th

Once again we all enjoyed a great breakfast and morning activities! The craft tables were busy today as everyone came to do some tye-dying and leather work. After lunch, feets-up and a nice refreshing swim the Andover Fire Department came and sprayed us with their hoses! Talk about a GIANT sprinkler and what fun! After drying off we had a great BBQ dinner with all of our GREAT sponsors who make camp possible. We also had a birthday party to celebrate our 5th year of Camp Quality Kansas! Thanks to good weather we were also able to have our smore cookout via hay-rack ride, so much more fun than walking! We had so much fun eating smores, playing soccer, and singing silly camp songs that we didn't want the evening to end! Can you believe that tomorrow is our last full day at camp? Time flies to fast with your having fun!

Thursday: July 14th

After breakfast, morning activities, lunch, and feets-up we watched and participated in an awesome Martial Arts Demonstration! We had so much fun and all to soon the show was over but then we were off to swim to shake off the afternoon heat. After cooling off in the pool it was time for dinner and then everyone was off to get spruced up for the talent show and dance! There were so many great acts this year! Many of our campers sang beautifully, others danced, did magic shows, stand up comedy, and play skits. All of our campers are so talented, it was amazing to see them all perform! After all of the great acts the lights were dimmed for the last dance of the week followed by snacks and bedtime.

Friday: July 15th

This morning I think it finally hit everyone that another camp week has come to an end. After breakfast there was a rush on morning activities to finish up some crafts, to get a final bounce in the bounce house and then get started on packing. After lunch we finished packing, made and played with balloon animals and said our goodbyes to our of the friends we had made over the week. Thank you to everyone who made this week possible!
