Camp Quality Michigan is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to serve children with cancer and their families by providing year-round programs, experiences, and companionship, at no cost. Camp Quality promotes hope and inspiration while helping children foster life skills and develop their full potential.
The goals and aims of Camp Quality are:
  • To allow children with cancer to be children again.
  • To create stress-free environments that offer exciting activities, foster new friendships, and help give children courage, motivation and emotional strength.·
  • To give families of children with cancer a much needed rest, knowing that the highest quality program has been selected to keep their child happy.  Camp Quality pairs up campers one-to-one with a companion, and most importantly, the finest medical supervision will be provided at every camp.
  • To give the child hope for the future in that the camping experience will be such fun, they will look forward to and anticipate their next camp, and that the memories from their special week will sustain them in the weeks and months ahead as they continue their medical treatment.
Camp Quality is a unique international camping program that was founded and established in 1983 in Sydney, Australia by Vera Entwistle. Entwistle came up with the name Camp Quality after a doctor told her "No one can do anything about the quantity of one's life, but all of us can do something about the quality."  There are now over 55 locations worldwide in 19 countries.  The United States currently has fifteen (15) camps for children with cancer located in eleven (11) states.
Camp Quality Michigan began in 1987 with only a summer camp.  There were twelve (12) campers at the first camp.  In 2008, over 120 campers participated in the North and south Michigan summer camp program.  In 2007, Camp Quality Michigan celebrated twenty (20) years in the State of Michigan.  As part of the 20th year, services and programs were expanded to offer two seperate week-long summer camps.  One week-long camp is held each year in July at Camp Copneconic in Fenton, MI and another week-long camp is held at Lake Ann Camp in August.
The Camp Quality USA National Board of Directors and National Office oversee the workings of all camp locations, camp directors and 2,000+ volunteers nationwide.  The national structure ensures a consistent brand and quality experience from camp to camp, standardized camp manuals, volunteer training materials, standardized bookkeeping requirements, standardized receipting and reporting of all donations and expenses, and program guidelines.  The National Office further supports local programs by providing various administrative services.
As Camp Quality continues to grow in our outreach, we will laugh, love, and lift-up as many children as possible.  With a united vision, Camp Quality will continue to provide activities with courage to fight their disease and hope for a successful recovery.
