Note to all potential volunteers:

As of 2018, we will require the following of our camp staff/volunteers: up to date Tdap, MMR (immunization or proof of immunity), and Varicella (immunization or proof of immunity). We will exempt anyone born prior to 1957 from the MMR and Varicella requirement, because they were born at a time where they either were required to be vaccinated, or were exposed to the disease prior to Vaccines becoming available.

If Proof of immunization is not available, titers can be drawn (MMR, Varicella) to check for antibodies.  This can be expensive and require laboratory orders that may ultimately determine that a booster vaccine is required.  The least disruptive alternative is to have Varicella or MMR booster doses completed.

Due to the resurgence of Pertussis (whooping cough) in the United States, the following Tdap guidelines are recommended.

Tdap use in adults. ACIP recommends that all adults aged 19 years and older who have not yet received a dose of Tdap should receive a single dose. Tdap should be administered regardless of interval since last tetanus or diphtheria toxoid-containing vaccine.

Tdap in Adolescents: For routine use, adolescents aged 11 through 18 years who have completed the recommended childhood diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and pertussis/diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and acellular pertussis (DTP/DTaP) vaccination series should receive a single dose.

If a volunteer cannot find proof Tdap, MMR, or Varicella immunization or immunity, they will need a booster before they can attend camp (available at any doctor’s office, urgent care, many pharmacies, or Health Departments). Many states maintain Electronic Immunization Registries where all immunizations and proof of disease information is kept. This can be accessed thru local Health Departments or Medical Offices.

Our first priority is the health and safety of our campers, so this policy will be strictly enforced.

What really makes Camp Quality unique is that a one-on-one companion is assigned to every child who registers for summer camp. Compantions must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Their dedication and commitment is the backbone of our program. In order to APPLY to be a companion, you need to:

                                   2) Submit three reference names (on the CampDoc application)

                                   3) Pass a background check (form below)

                                   4) Complete a face-to-face interview

                                   7) Accept the obligations of Camp Quality

A camper's "best friend for the week" is their Camp Quality Companion. The caring and supportive relationship between the pair begins before camp, and continues to be fostered throughout the year. In many cases, Camp Quality kids develop such strong friendships with their companions that they ask to be matched up year after year.

We seek caring adults who want to build a friendship with a special child. Companions are fun to be with, adventuresome, great listeners, and are always sharing their love for life.

In addition to Companions, a variety of other staff are required, such as event planning, crafts, special programming, and medical.
