Volunteer Registration is Open

Camp Quality Texas uses an online application system for registration. If you are 18 years or older and are available to volunteer a week of your time, we are ready to take your application for camp now! Camp will be July 15th - July 21st, 2018 at Camp Forest Glen just outside of Huntsville, TX. The application deadline for volunteers is May 31, 2018.

All volunteers are required to be trained prior to camp. Please make sure to select a training option on the application that works for your schedule. Further training details will be sent out via email at a later date.

We have partnered with CampDoc again this year for our application system. CampDoc offers online registration and an electronic health record system for camps. The security, confidentiality and privacy of your personal health information will always be protected. Only Camp Quality's health staff will have access to health information, and the CampDoc.com site is secure, encrypted and password protected.

Acceptance Process for New Volunteers

Our application window is open from February 1st until May 31st.  During this time you will receive emails from us if we have any questions about your application and with reminders for upcoming dates and events.

After the application window has closed, the following must occur:

  1. All volunteers must attend training during the month of June. The in-person training's are the 2nd weekend in the Dallas area and the 4th weekend in the Houston area. (Only returning volunteers have the option of completing their training online).
  2. At the in-person training, you must complete an interview.
  3. Reference checks will be completed. We will be contacting the references you provided in your application.
  4. Background checks will be completed. Every volunteer, every year must get a background check per the State of Texas.

Once we have verified that the above have been completed, we then go through a multi-day process of placing volunteers into positions.  This is done the week following the last in-person training.  Based on your application and interview, for those that want to be a Companion we pair them with a Camper and for those that want to be on Staff we place them into staff positions.  It is possible that some volunteers will be wait-listed because we are currently unable to place you into one of your requested positions.

After the above is completed, we will then email you with your Camper’s information or your Staff position!

If you have any questions about the information above, please do not hesitate contacting us at

Online Registration Tips

  • The application will save anything you enter, so you won't lose what you have entered if you get interrupted.
  • The application is mobile-friendly, so it can be used on your smart phone or iPad.
  • Please upload a photo (head shot) which will help us as we start getting familiar with our new volunteers!
  • If you don’t have time to complete the application in one setting, you can go back later and fill in the missing pieces, using your email and password. You will get email reminders for any section that is not completed prior to camp.
  • We are often asked by volunteers if there is a way they can help offset the cost of their registration and training costs. Our online application system does allow for a donation to be made and this is an additional way to support Camp Quality Texas that is purely optional.
  • You must have an email to complete the application on-line. If you do not have an email address, please contact us at TXVolunteers@CampQualityUSA.org

Volunteer Training for Summer Camp

All volunteers must go through a volunteer training before camp each summer. Returning volunteers are given the option to complete this training online. New volunteers and any returning volunteer that id not elect to take the training online must attend one of the following training sessions:

  1. June 9, 2018 in Dallas, TX
  2. June 23, 2018 in Houston, TX

Training location details as well as start/end times will be communicated via email based on the training location that you select in the online application. Training typically starts around 9:00 am and completes by 4:00 pm. Lunch will be provided.

If you have any questions about the in-person or online training, please contact Stephanie Weber.

Expert Online Training

Every staff member and companion will be required to complete training before attending camp. All new volunteers will need to attend this training in person, however returning volunteers have the option to complete the training online. In both formats of training, we will be using Expert Online Training content during our training sessions to provide the most up to date training possible.

Returning volunteers that select the online training option will be assigned role-specific video courses that teach them how to best perform their job at camp. The training instructors at Expert Online come from a wide array of backgrounds including: child psychology, other summer camps, education and youth development programs.

We are very excited to be utilizing this content at our training sessions this year and hope that our volunteers find it helpful as well!
