At just 13 years old, Joseph has already faced more than most people do in a lifetime. Diagnosed with cancer in 2017, he’s been living with long-term effects ever since—but you’d never know it from the way his face lights up when he talks about Camp Quality.
Since 2019, Camp Quality has been Joseph’s happy place. It’s where he feels understood, supported, and most importantly, like a regular kid. “My camp experience has been very fun. It gives me a chance to hang out with kids that know what I have been through and am going through,” Joseph shared with a grin.
Whether he’s tearing it up in Gaga ball, jamming in the game room, or goofing around with Bo his camp bestie, , Joseph is all about making memories and sharing laughs. He’s outgoing and an “old soul” with a caring heart. His quick wit and big smile have become something of a trademark around camp.
When he’s not dominating in Gaga ball, you’ll probably find him cooking or casting a line out by the lake—fishing is one of his favorite hobbies. Back home, Joseph’s all about music, video games, and school subjects like Math and Gym, where his curiosity and energy shine through.
His mom says camp has made a huge difference—not just for Joseph, but for their whole family. “When you have a child with this disease, there are not a lot of people who know what you are going through. Camp Quality gave us this support, and we couldn’t be more grateful!” she says, reflecting on the Camp Quality’s impact on their family.
At Camp Quality, Joseph has found a supportive community where he can be himself, laugh hard, try new things, and just enjoy being a kid. And honestly, that’s what Camp Quality is all about!
