Layne was diagnosed with cancer on May 5, 2022, and his journey through treatment has been nothing short of challenging. Despite the many long and tough days spent in the hospital, Layne’s strength and resilience shone through, with his bright smile always lighting up the room. Today, we’re overjoyed to share that he is in remission and thriving! Layne’s family first learned about Camp Quality USA from the caring nurses at Children’s Mercy, and it’s been an incredible experience ever since. At camp, Layne, who loves gaming, swimming, and being outdoors, found a place where his sense of humor could truly shine. Though initially quiet, his playful side has come out in full force, and it’s been wonderful to see him back to his ornery self. His favorite camp activities include swimming, fishing, and the talent show, which he can’t wait to enjoy again. Camp Quality has helped Layne and his siblings grow more confident, independent, and open to new friendships. It’s been a beautiful gift for their entire family, and they’re all excited to return. One word to describe Layne? Brave. Joyful-spirited.
