Nolan

MI

Eight-year-old Nolan knows exactly how many days are left until Summer Camp at Camp Quality Michigan North—and he’ll tell you, down to the hour, if you ask him. That’s because for Nolan, camp isn’t just a summer getaway. It’s the place where he gets to be a kid first—and everything else second.

Diagnosed with cancer in 2016, Nolan has grown up facing challenges most kids his age don’t even know exist. But you wouldn’t know it from talking to him. He’s got that kind of spark that makes you forget the heavy stuff. All he wants to do is toss a football, race you to the climbing wall, or dominate a game of 9 Square like it’s the championship round.

Since his first time at Camp Quality in 2022, Nolan’s been hooked. He talks about the friends he’s made, the freedom of being outdoors, and the feeling of being surrounded by kids who get it—who understand what it means to live with cancer but don’t let it define them. He’s in his element whether he’s splashing in the lake, running full-speed into a soccer match, or catching a touchdown like a pro.

The impact of camp goes far beyond just Nolan. His mom says she’s grateful to see her son surrounded by other kids who are not only okay but thriving—kids who support each other, laugh together, and face the world with courage. It’s a kind of peace of mind only Camp Quality can bring.

His dad? Well, ever since they went to Winter Family Weekend together, he hasn’t stopped talking about it. From the campfires to the family games, it was a memory-maker for both of them—and something they’ll be smiling about for years to come.

Off the field, Nolan’s heart beats for sports—especially football. Whether he’s quarterbacking with his buddies or just throwing the ball around the yard, he’s all in. That energy, that grit, and that go-get-’em attitude are exactly what he brings to camp every year. It’s no wonder he’s already counting the days until he’s back on the climbing wall, back in the water, and back with his camp crew.

Because for Nolan, Camp Quality isn’t just a place. It’s a feeling. It’s where he gets to just be Nolan—bold, funny, active, and always up for one more game.
